Speak the word

Matthew 8:5-13
5. And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this [man], Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth [it].

10 When Jesus heard [it], he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, [so] be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Words of faith

I remember when I was a little boy. We were taught a popular saying which went something like this.

"sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.

There is nothing further from the truth.
Words have more effect on our lives than sticks or stones ever will.

The centurion servant was lying sick at home. This man was so concerned about his servant that he came to Jesus seeking healing. Those who seek find.

The centurion understood what authority meant. He was under authority and knew how to use authority. He came expecting Jesus to use His authority in the supernatural realm just like he used it in the natural realm.

His understanding of authority and how it works aided his faith in believing Jesus. Authority works in the supernatural realm by words. This is also true in the natural realm. Authority is the power behind the words spoken that gives them the force to accomplish their purpose.

Most of the people who Jesus healed in the gospels were healed by the spoken word. The centurion believed the words of Jesus. These words healed His servant. The word of God always has the power to heal.

"He sent forth His word and healed them" - Psalm 107:20

"The words I speak to you are spirit and life" - John 6:63

"Confess with your mouth and believe in your heat for salvation" - Romans 10:8-9

As you read, study and meditate on God's word you will be able to speak it out in faith. As you speak God's word to your body. The anointing in God word will bring healing to you. God wants to save the total man- spirit, soul and body. Read the following scripture aloud to yourself and meditate on it.

Romans 10:6-11

Remember - salvation is not just the washing away of sins and making you right with God but also the healing of your physical body.

Speak God's word aloud to your body and receive His healing salvation.
