Welcome to 2006

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The year 2006 is here, 2005 is gone forever.

It is so easy for a person to become paralysed between the regrets of yesterday and the fears of tomorrow. This is not the way we should live.

Many people lost friends, family and loved ones in the year 2005. Terror attacks; natural calamities; and man made disasters such as plane crashes all took their toil. For many the pain and loss of 2005 will linger on for as long as they are on earth. May the God of all comfort send them the comfort and peace they need to continue on.

When God created the world He made it good (Genesis 1:10, 12). Ever since the fall of mankind many things have gone wrong. Sin taints the world for the worst.

One secret for getting good out of this life lies in Genesis chapter 1.

Notice how God separated the light from the darkness (Genesis 1:4); the sky from the earth (Genesis 1:7-8); and the land from the sea (Genesis 1:9-11). There are certain things that do not go together.

Darkness for example can be given many interpretations. Separation should not only occur when something wrong or bad is at stake. There are times when we have to separate ourselves from things that are not necessary bad in themselves - like food, desires that cannot be fulfilled, unending grieve, regrets over past mistakes, procrastination and such like.

Separation is sometimes a necessity of development and growth. This requires discernment and determination.

May God grant you the discernment and ability this year to separate yourself from all that is not profitable or needful in your life.
