The God way

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning the first day. Genesis 1:3-5 (NIV)

If you take a close look at the creation story in Genesis 1 you will discover that God first created the earth before filling it.

On day one He created the light and darkness: note this is not the sun and moon, they were not created until the fourth day. What we have on day one is light and darkness being separated into day and night; ready to be filled with the sun, moon and stars on the fourth day.

On day two He created the sky by separating the waters above from the water below. The sky was filled with birds on the fifth day.

On day three He created the land and the sea and this He filled with creatures on the sixth day.

God gets things ready before He utilises them.
We can notice this same trend with the way He prepared Jacob, Joseph and Moses.

As we glance forward to a new year lets take a careful look at what God has been preparing us for. Many make the mistake of running away before God gets the chance to fill them. The fact that what God has made is good does not mean it is complete (Genesis 1:10).

The light and darkness existed without the sun and moon (Genesis 1:3-4); the very presence of God?s spoken word sustained their existence. We all exist because of the mercy and grace of God ? we should not mistake God?s grace for approval of the state we find ourselves. There is more God wants to fill us with.

The same is true on the natural level. Your potential is not yet exhausted. Like the land and sea devoid of the teaming life of fish and birds on the third day - there is more fruit that you can still bear. Whatever position you find yourself in; whether a full time mother or working in a secular job - study and learn to improve your potential. After all the first words God ever spoke to mankind were:

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Genesis 1:28 (NIV)

God still wants to fill the earth through us. His spoken word that created the world is still speaking life to you today. Are you aware of your potential?

Lets use this ?lease of life on earth? God has given us to fill His earth and ourselves with His goodness. That is the greatest investment you can make.
