On Sunday, the 4 August 2002 , two young girls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman of Soham, England, United Kingdom were abducted and murdered.
Both girls were only ten years old.
Much of the world's media have followed the event.
Let us offer up some meaningful prayer to God for the devastated family, friends and acquaints. At the time of this writing the Police enquiries are still going on into the event.
Unfortunately Holly and Jessica are not the only children to have suffered a violent death. Nor will they be the last.
Maybe some of you reading this have first hand experience of children, friends, parents or even acquaints who suffered a similar fate. Maybe the empty feeling of violation is still lingering inside you.
Death can be cruel and murder only makes it worst. The Bible describes it like this
Luke 2:34-35 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this [Child] is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 "(yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." (NKJV)
A sword piercing through the soul was used to relate the agony that Mary the mother of Jesus was to go through. She watched her son being crucified (John 19:25-27)
God knows what it means to lose someone dear. He feels the hurt and understands. He does not intend to leave us alone in our pain. Notice his response to Mary.
John 19:25-27 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the [wife] of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!" 27 Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own [home.] (NKJV)n 19:25-27
Jesus made provision for his mother. He will make provision for you. In this world we will always have evil and evil actions. It is a product of sin. Jesus came to redeem us from the power of death. Jesus loves you and cares for you. He feels the hurt you go through (John 11:35). He has made special provision for you in this world and the life to come.
Don't forsake Him now for He will never forsake you.
We all have to live with the consequences of a fallen race and the raging sin.
