Are you living on supplements?

Most people these days take vitamins / nutritional supplements to maintain good health. The Oxford dictionary defines a supplement as 'a thing added to something else to improve or complete'.

Does this mean that supplements are adequate enough to substitute our main diet?

No.

I would equate nutritional supplements in the christian faith to books, tapes, CDs or DVD messages. In these days of technology there is so much christian material out there that we can lay our hands on.

While they do have a significant place in our growth one wonders whether they should be our main diet?

When was the last time you read your bible from cover to cover?
When was the last time you took time to study and read the bible yourself?
What happened to the act of meditation?

As individuals we need to ensure that we read our bible daily as this should be our main diet.

Matt 4 verse 4 ' Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.' How are we going to know every word of God if we are not reading our bible.

Joshua 1 verse 8, 'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.' How are we going to be able to meditate on the word of God if we are not reading it.

Lets not just live on supplements but feed daily on the bible.

Lets be connoisseurs of the Word of God.
