Are you claiming your benefits?

Most western societies have what we call a benefit or welfare system. In the United Kingdom it is known as the benefit system. It simply means that if at any time you fall short of money to keep yourself, due to unemployment or other justifiable reasons, you can claim benefits. i.e the government will pay you some allowance.

These benefits do not just fall on your lap, you have got to get them by making a claim.

Are you a christian? If so, you have loads of benefits in the Lord that you are entitled to. Imagine getting a job with loads of benefits which includes a daily free lunch. What happens if you don't claim your free lunch? You will be wasting your own money, buying your own lunch and living beneath your privileges.

Psalm 103 verse 2 says:

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

This means we can forget His benefits and struggle unnecessary.

What are some of these benefits? Lets have a look at Psalm 103 verse 3 to 5

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Did you do someting wrong and ask the Lord to forgive you?
Any need to feel guilty again?
No, forgiveness of sin is a benefit of the child of God.

Need healing for your body?
Healing is a benefit in the Lord, already paid for by His stripes.

The list goes on. Psalm 112 verse 12

What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

As you search the scriptures you will see all your entitlements.

So how do l claim them?
Believe they are available to you, and claim them by declaring them out of your mouth.

There is no need to live short of what we have in Christ.
Yes, we need appropriate teaching in this area. We must meditate on them, so they can be real to us in our hearts.

Once again l ask, are you claiming your benefits?
