Faith
Welcome to our faith series. It takes the format of a brief explanation on the foundamentals of faith followed by a questions section which should help in group and personal study.
- Introduction to Faith
God's word says that you are healed (1 Peter 2:24). If you are believing God for healing you base your hope on God's promise of healing and then receive that healing by faith.
- The heavenly or spiritual realm
The spiritual realm is as real as the natural realm. In fact the spiritual realm determines what takes places in the natural realm.
- The Centurion's servant
Matthew records the centurion coming to Jesus himself while Luke's account says he sent elders of the Jews. Sending people on your behalf is regarded as doing it yourself in many cultures of the world even today.
- Peter's mother in-law - Authority
After arriving from the synagogue where he had cast out an evil spirit from a man (Luke 4:31-36) he came to Simon's (Peter) house and met Simon's mother-in-law sick with fever. Jesus rebuked the fever and it left her. He spoke to the fever in the same way
- Calming the storm
Jesus had told his disciples to go across to the other side prior to falling asleep in the boat. He had given them a command. After a day of teaching, He gave them a word to follow. I believe Jesus expected them to act on that word by faith. We need faith
- Demonized man
The man had an evil spirit and lived in the tombs. Evil and death always go together. He was violent and not even chains could bind him. Often the evil within people causes them to chose or live in an environment condusive for evil. We still find this tod
- The paralysed man
Jesus pronounced the paralytic man's sins forgiven (Matthew 9:2, Mark 2:5, Luke 5:20) This caused a stir among those present. Jesus came to die for the sins of the world but He had the authority to forgive sins.
- Two blind men and dumb demonised man
Jesus had just finished raising a girl up from the dead (Matthew 9:23-26) and as he was moving on two blind men came following him calling out for mercy. Maybe they had heard about His last miracle and had figured out that he would be able to heal them.
- Man with shrivelled hand
The Sabbath day was kept religiously by the Israelites. So religiously that they did not even expect God to do anything on day.
- Gift of healings and simple faith
- The gift of healing is like walking into a room and taking what God has already put on the table.
- Receiving healing by simple faith is like walking into a room and asking God to put something on the table for you. You know God wants to give it to y
- Jesus walks on water
The feeding of 5,000 which had taken place during the day had gone "unnoticed" by the disciples because of their "hardened heart". Obviously they had witnessed the miracles but had not appreciated it nor recognised the significance of the deed. Jesus walk
