Welcome to Genesis

Objectives

The aim of these studies is to explore the doctrines and principles established in Genesis. This is not a character study. Nor is it a look at Genesis chapter by chapter.
Rather, we look at the teachings and principles established in Genesis and develop them.

These principles are themes that run throughout the Bible. Understanding these basic principles will help you tremendously in your Christian walk.

The aim is to encourage meditation on the scriptures by using the 'question and answer' approach.

The layout

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things
above, not on things on the earth." Colossians 3:1-2

  1. Setting your mind on things above - is the main motive for these studies.
    The layout points the reader in the right direction and helps in highlighting
    sound doctrine. By the time you complete the question and answer section you
    should be 'doing your own' meditation on the scripture.
  2. Question and answer approach. The fall of mankind was triggered by a question;
    Genesis 3:1. God's first respond to man after the fall was a question; Genesis 3:9.

    When God asks a question it is never because He does not know the answer.
    Rather it is to get us to FOCUS on the answer. Questions focus the mind. The
    fastest way to bring your spirit, soul and body to focus on the Word of God
    is to ask yourself questions from the Word.

    These studies start with articles on the topic in question. The main truths
    and teachings are highlighted.

    This is then followed by 'Questions for discussion' on the topic.
    These questions are suited for either group or personal study. If you are
    leading a Bible study group you can simply use the 'Questions for discussion' section at the end of each chapter.

  3. Fresh manna. God told the Israelites to collect the manna one day at a time;
    Exodus 16. No old stuff. Even if you are familiar with the chapters in question
    please read them again. Expect a fresh revelation from God's Word.
  4. By the time you conclude. By the end of this course you would have taken
    a systematic walk through the main teachings in the book of Genesis.
    All these studies are tailored to bring you practical truths from God's
    Word that you can live by.

    These studies are for the Christian who wants to grow.
