Spiritual realities created by our words.

The world created by the spoken word
God created the world by speaking it into being - Genesis 1.
The spoken word of God brought the world into being. His faith filled words contained the substance that formed the world - Hebrews 1: 1-3.

Now God made man in His images and likeness. Being in someone?s likeness means being like Him. We have been made with the ability to speak faith filled words like God.
In Genesis 2: 19 - 20 we witness man begin to use his faith filled words.

Our salvation comes with the confessed word

Romans 10: 6 -10 tells us that righteousness speaks. With our mouths we confess that Jesus is Lord and with our hearts we believe it. Words and faith go together. Ponder the following verses.

Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (NKJV)

Notice that confession is a vital route to our salvation. All spiritual realities and blessings are obtained with believing in our hearts and confessing it with our mouths. That is why testimonies are so powerful. They give us the opportunity to speak out the goodness of God.

Those who have just accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour find it much easier to accept their new found faith when they tell someone about it. Confessing our salvation is vital to receiving it.

The promises received by the spoken word

Our salvation is a product of our faith. Our faith in turn should produce godly words. Saying what you believe will increase your faith. It will make available for you what God has provided in the spiritual realm. God created the world by speaking. We too should speak out the promises of God on healing and prosperity for our lives.

Make it a daily habit of speaking and saying what God?s word says about you.

• Moses spoke to the rock- Numbers 20: 1-13

  
  God told Moses to speak to the rock for water to come forth and quench the thirst of the Israelites. Here again we see the power of the spoken word. Moses anger caused him to neglect the command of God and he hit the rock instead of speaking to it. You can now understand why God was so angry with him. God was probably trying to teach Israel, and us, the power of the spoken word. After all they were our example (1 Corinthians 10: 1-6)

• The Centurion - Matthew 8:5 - 13

  
  The Centurion was confident enough to rely on the spoken words of Jesus to bring healing to his servant. His faith was in Jesus. The words Jesus spoke were the instruments that would execute the will of God. Faith filled words can still change the lives of people around us today. In today?s highly intellectual societies we tend to forget or ignore to our own peril these truths. Faiths filled words bring change.

  The truth is that victory in spiritual battles and blessings from God are received by faith. One important way of exercising this faith is by speaking out aloud God?s promises (Mark 11: 20 - 24)

Speaking the things that are not as if they were.

Romans 4:17 (as it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations") in the presence of Him whom he believed -- God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; (NKJV)

God does not lie. Yet He told Abraham that he (Abraham) was the father of many nations even though he had no child - Genesis 12 & 15.

Sometimes we need to speak out the promises of God despite the circumstances around us.

The Shunammite woman - 2 Kings 4: 18 - 37, kept saying ?it is well? even when her child was dead (see verses 23 & 26). The woman with the issue of blood - Matthew 9: 20 - 22, kept saying to herself ?if I touch him I will be made whole?.

These people were not denying the facts but holding unto the truth.

Faiths filled words keep doubt and unbelief from robbing our promises and rights in Christ. They act as a shield against the onslaught of the enemy. In John 11 Jesus said that Lazarus was asleep when he was dead. Jesus was not telling a lie. He was establishing the truth. He agreed with God?s outcome to the situation. When you speak something out you make it your own.

Speak God?s promises out despite the circumstances and you will make them your own. Speak satan?s intentions and you will get the same. God spoke into the dark and there was light. We too need to learn how to speak into the ?dark areas of our life? for the light of God?s will to come in and change it. God created the world with words. We can change ours by speaking those same words.

Careless words

Children tend to say everything they know to anyone who cares to listen. They lack discretion and discipline. Spiritual babies tend to act the same way. They speak aloud all their unbelief, doubt and silly ideals that the enemy and the world bring to their minds. By doing this they make them their own and reap the rewards. James 3:1 -12 shows us the danger of careless speech. Numbers 14: 26 - 33 shows the rewards of careless speech.
The story starts in Numbers 13. The twelve spies were sent out and brought back a bad report. They did not consider themselves able to take the Land God had given them. They spoke boldly, confidently and ignorantly what their five senses had seen.

They might have lived if they had kept their mouths shut. Never confess over your life anything that is contrary to the promises of God for you - no matter the circumstances.

This does not mean denying the facts. Notice the answer of Caleb and Joshua in the account in Numbers

Numbers 13:30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it." (NKJV)

Numbers 14:6-9 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, [who were] among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: "The land we passed through to spy out [is] an exceedingly good land. 8 "If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey.' 9 "Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they [are] our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD [is] with us. Do not fear them." (NKJV)

When evil comes don?t accept it. Be like the Woman, who on being diagnosed with cancer said ?the doctors say I have cancer but Jesus says I am healed?. She held on to her godly confession despite the symptoms.
Like God she spoke into the darkness.
She followed the example of the Shunammite woman.
She acted like the woman with the issue of blood.
Like Jesus she was saying Lazarus sleeps when nature said he was dead.
Two months later all trace of cancer in her body had left.

Sing the word

We can sing the words of God to our self. Colossians 3; 14 - 17 admonishes us to do this. This means getting to know the promises of God. Find them in the Bible and speak them out to yourself.

In conclusion, confessing or saying the word of God has many benefits. Here are a few of them.

1. They cause faith to come
2. They keep the answer before you
3. Sow seeds in the kingdom
4. Renews the mind
5. Changes the heart
6. Brings the promises of God to fulfilment
7. Allows God (and angels) to work on your behalf - Hebrews 1:13-14
